Withdraw Dogecoin (DOGE) from an ATM? Coinflip makes it possible
News on Dogecoin. The Twitter favourite is available at crypto ATMs in the US. Another indication of mass adoption to come?
According to Elon Musk’s next tweet, Doge fans can pick up their coins directly at ATMs. That’s because bitcoin ATM operator CoinFlip added the notoriously fun Ethereum Code token to its range. According to a press release, Doge is thus available at 1,800 CoinFlip ATMs, which can be found in 46 of the 50 US states. So for now, the offer only applies to the United States.
The once obscure token entered the spotlight in February
After a series of tweets by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the price catapulted within a few weeks. It rose from 0.03 US dollars to 0.09 in the meantime. Rapper Snoop Dog and Kiss member Gene Simmons also expressed their support on Twitter. In the meantime, the Dogecoin price has settled at around 0.05 US dollars.
It should be obvious that CoinFlip’s Dogecoin decision is also influenced by the general hype. Daniel Polotsky, CEO of the company, comments:
Given its growing popularity and recent mass adoption, we are committed to ensuring Dogecoin is a part of our portfolio of coins, and we encourage further development of this cryptocurrency in the coming months.
The Dogecoin developers, meanwhile, are not watching the colourful goings-on impassively. On 28 February, they released an update designed to speed up payment processing.
Doge or no Doge; CoinFlip on an upward trend
Beyond the Dogecoin rally, ATM maker CoinFlip can also celebrate triumphs. The year 2020 was the most successful in the company’s history. The Chicago-based company not only tripled its own turnover, but also the amount of machines set up. A total of 9 cryptocurrencies are available at the ATMs, including of course Ethereum and Bitcoin.
